Step into history at the Belait District Museum, a former British residence turned cultural landmark, where Brunei’s heritage, local wildlife, and royal memories come to life.
The Belait District Museum, built in 1938 on a 6-hectare estate, originally served as the residence of the Assistant British Resident and later housed the Belait District Officer until 1990. This historic building also holds the distinction of hosting His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah during his visits to Belait for birthday celebrations. Today, the museum stands as the only one outside Brunei-Muara District, offering insights into the region’s history, ethnic diversity, and unique wildlife.
For those without access to a private car, we recommend using Dart (think of it as Brunei’s Uber or Grab) which is the most convenient option for traveling in Brunei. While it provides hassle-free booking and convenience, keep in mind that pricing may vary.
