“Theme: ‘Communication and Languages in Asian-Pacific Regions: Connection, Collaboration and Sustainability’
The aim of this conference is to advance communication and language studies with a focus on sustainable practices and provide a platform for researchers, practitioners, and policymakers to discuss challenges and opportunities in the field. Key topics include sustainable communication practices, language education and policy, the impact of linguistic diversity, and the role of education in fostering communication networks.
Aligned with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its SDGs, the conference will explore how communication and language research can enhance connectivity and collaboration across sectors and cultures. Contributions from various sub-fields such as media, linguistics, IT, politics, and global networks are welcomed to enrich the discussions.
The conference will also strengthen Brunei’s role in international communication research networks, facilitating the sharing of experiences and solutions. Experts, academics, and practitioners from around the world are invited to share their insights and strategies for advancing sustainable communication practices.”

The proposed mushroom week will involve several activities to engage, educate and inspire participants in the fascinating world of mushrooms. Mushroom Week is an engaging and educational event designed to celebrate the fascinating world of fungi. This program will combine scientific exploration, artistic expression, and cultural appreciation of mushrooms. The event will provide a platform for researchers, artists, students, and the general public to learn, share, and engage with fungi in innovative ways. Through workshops, talks, and interactive activities, Mushroom Week aims to highlight the ecological importance, artistic beauty, and economic potential of mushrooms.

The UBD STEAM Festival 2025, organised by the Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah Institute of Education (SHBIE) in collaboration with key faculties and research centers at Universiti Brunei Darussalam. This festival aims at bridging the gap between scientific research, innovation, and the wider community. Scheduled for four-day event will feature a vibrant mix of on-campus exhibitions, workshops, and interactive sessions, as well as off-campus outreach activities designed to engage schools and the public. With a strong focus on fostering STEAM education, promoting public understanding of science, and showcasing UBD’s latest research and innovations, the festival seeks to inspire a culture of lifelong learning, sustainability, and community engagement. By integrating a research component to gather audience perceptions and involving international collaborators, the festival promises to be a significant milestone in advancing science education, promoting STEAM careers, and enhancing sustainability efforts in Brunei Darussalam

Brunei Darussalam actively preserves its tropical rainforests as part of the Heart of Borneo initiative, aligning with its national vision, Wawasan Brunei 2035, which promotes sustainable growth, environmental conservation, and high quality of life. Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) plays a significant role in achieving this vision with its expertise in biodiversity research and environmental science. UBD’s research centers, such as the Institute for Biodiversity and Environmental Research (IBER), lead in studying and preserving Brunei’s ecosystems.
UBD’s commitment to sustainability in its curriculum and its active role in environmental initiatives position it as a leader in promoting green stewardship. The summer camp at UBD offers participants comprehensive insights and hands-on experiences in biodiversity conservation and sustainable development.
